Former Eredivisie champions Ajax, have built quite the sensational youth academy in recent years, and this is portrayed in FM16 with an outstanding under 19's squad which is arguably the best on the game for potential future stars. However, what must be appreciated is the difficulty of keeping all these players for a number of seasons without them looking for a better opportunity at a bigger club. This therefore creates the chance for more renowned european clubs to possibly sign some of these exceptional players.
Many children in the Netherlands are taught the English language from an early age and therefore the wonderkids in this review do speak basic English. Not only is this advantageous for English clubs because these players wouldn't need to learn the language - as the majority of foreign players do - in comparison, these players are good value for money considering Ajax's investment in their youth policy.
In this article I will provide you with information on the best prospects in the Ajax under 19's squad with the hope that you will sign them on your career save.
Name- Che Nunnely
D.O.B- 4/2/1999, 16 Years Old
Nationality- Dutch
Position- Attacking Midfielder (Right)
Transfer Value- £50k
Can Be Obtained For- Around £5 Million
The young man who has everybody talking at the moment is Ajaxs' prized possession Che Nunnely, a fantastic player wise beyond his years. Nunnely's best attribute is his acceleration, which underpins his overall speed. In my opinion this player, given the chance, has the potential to be something great in the next 10 years. Nunnely is currently being watched by several major clubs in Europe, and this is captivated well in FM16.
If you were to start a save as Ajax, I strongly advise you do not sell this player within the first 5 or 6 seasons because he rockets in value.
Name- Justin Kluivert
D.O.B- 5/5/1999, 16 Years Old
Nationality- Dutch
Position- Attacking Midfielder (Left)
Transfer Value- £43k
Can Be Obtained For- Around £1 Million
Son of Patrick Kluivert, Justin, is hoping to emulate his father by starting his career at Ajax, and becoming a world class player. His FM16 stats show that becoming such a player is a possibility. His father played as an out-and-out striker throughout his career and there is the decision to be made on your save to continue progressing Justin in his natural position of left winger or to train him further in the striker position. I recommend keeping Justin as a left winger and train him as an attacking inside forward.
Name- Francesco Antonucci
D.O.B- 20/6/1999, 16 Years Old
Nationality- Belgian
Position- Midfielder/Attacking Midfielder (Centre)
Transfer Value- £80k
Can Be Obtained For- Around £1.9 Million
Antonucci arguably has the best stats in the Ajax under 19's squad with 16 ratings in first touch and technique and a 17 rating in flair, this shows that Antonucci is destined for great things on FM16. Despite him being the adolescent age of 16, he is the only player on this list not to start his professional footballing career at Ajax. He started his career at Anderlecht in his home nation of Belgium and despite interest from Chelsea, Ajax evidently convinced him enough to join their ever establishing youth academy.
As he started his life in Belgium it means he is the only player on this list unable to speak English, even at a basic level. However I wouldn't let this deter you signing this player for any club on the game as he will become one of the best players on FM16 given time.
Name- Matthijs de Ligt
D.O.B- 12/8/1999, 15 Years Old
Nationality- Dutch
Position- Defender (Centre)
Transfer Value- £24.5k
Can Be Obtained For- Around £5 Million
What I have found from playing FM16, is there is a lack of young centre backs with the potential to become world class, however De Ligt I believe to be one of the few players to have this potential. At the start of the game, he can be obtained for £5 million, now that might seem a hefty price tag but he is worth every penny, as eventually he transforms into a fantastic player. However, if I had to note one hinderance, it be his strength, a stat that does admittedly need a lot of training.
Name- Anderson Lopez
D.O.B- 24/1/1999, 16 Years Old
Nationality- Dutch
Position- Striker (Centre)
Transfer Value- £21.5k
Can Be Obtained For- Around £400k
What makes Anderson Lopez unique to this list, is his price tag, he can be bought for another club for around £400k which is an absolute bargain considering his in-game potential, not only this but he is one of the most determined youngsters in Ajaxs' squad. This determination bodes him well in later years as it drives him to succeed not only at the Ajax, but in his career. To help the development of Lopez, ideally he should be sent out on loan so as he can gain experience, this will help him to become a first team player for Ajax.
Hope you have enjoyed this review of the Ajax under 19's squad, please do give these players a try on your save.
