Head & Shoulders ran a massive survey where eight nations participated in selecting the worst and the most iconic hairstyles in football history. Championship manager legend tops one of the categories.
World Cup in football is the most watched sporting event on the planet, with more than 2 billion people tuning in to watch the games during this one month period in which the competition takes its place. With such tremendous media exposure the players want to present themselves in the best possible way. Some do it on the pitch by playing some of the best games in their careers, while some less gifted try to turn the media spotlight to themselves with, lets say unusual hairstyles.

Yes, it is Taribo West, Championship Manager Legend who got voted to have the worst hair in football history. Head & Shoulders survey reveals 2002 hairstyle of the Nigerian to be the worst one ever with 29% votes going his way. He managed to fight of the likes of Carlos Valderrama’s Blonde Afro (25%) and Abel Xavier’s Bleached Hair/Beard Combination (16%).
Our man Taribo just has always been in the tabloids for all the wrong reasons. Even thou we love the guy, we still can't say for certainty how old he really is. Legends say he turned 44 this year.
Why is he such a legend? Taribo West your average defender that played solid at the back in the mid 90s and early 00s, in a generation where defending was far more about the ability to stop players than pass the ball at the back. But in Championship Manager 01/02 Taribo was, and stayed, the best free transfer defender the players of the franchise ever encountered.

Becks’ 2003 masterpiece was voted #1 with 25% of the vote fighting off stiff competition from the likes of Ruud Gullit’s Trademark Dreadlocks voted #2 (22% of the votes) and Ronaldo’s Shaved Dome voted #3 (16% of the votes) at the top of the hairstyle table.
Even thou most of the voters selected Becks hairstyle as the most iconic ever, the player himself was not so happy about it.
The former England skipper and style icon said in 2015: "The topknot wasn’t too bad but the braids were a bad decision.
"It was bad timing as well as I was going to South Africa at the time with England and ended up meeting Nelson Mandela, so that’s why I regret that one."
It was a tightly run race, however, with Beckham's barnet picking up 25 per cent of the total vote, only three per cent more than Gullit.
