GoldenFM also ran a simulation on this year's competition 100 times on Football Manager 2018 - and the results are surprising, to say the least, more about this experiment in the article.
How to install FM 2018 World Cup Database
You can follow the creator's instruction video on how to install the FIFA World Cup 2018 database, or you can follow the step by step guide provided below the video.

You can also subscribe to the file via Steam, subscribe to FM18 World Cup 2018 Database. If you subscribe via Steam Workshop you can skip the step #2.
2) Move the database file ( .fmf ) to your Sports Interactive folder usually located in your documents folder.
3) Start your Football Manager 2018.
4) Start a new game, must be 'CAREER' mode.
5) On the 'Career Game Setup' screen click on the database drop down menu and make sure the World Cup 2018 Database is the only one enabled. Do not mix more databases together, as it may result in application error or commonly know as the crash dump error.
Now hit the red bottom in the bottom that says 'Advanced Setup'.
6) Now, you can start your save as usual, but for instance if you start your game in England the World Cup will be one year away from the starting date. But still the real World Cup with correct 32 teams will still work.
But if you want to start as close to the actual date of the World Cup than choose Brazil as your starting nation. This will enable you to start the game at the May 7th of 2018. That's only four weeks to simulate the game till you reach the start of the competition on June 14th.
To add Brazil league hit the 'Add/Remove League' button.
7) Hit 'Confirm' and wait till the game database sets up. You can holiday till the start of the World Cup or play the game if you decided to add a new manager and manage one of the 32 nations that'll be in the competition.
Football Manager 2018 predicting World Cup in Russia
GoldenFM ran the simulation 100 times to see who did FM 2018 predict as the new World champion, and the results are a bit shocking, to say the least.
Belgium ended up winning World Cup 2018 22 times out of 100. France were next on 17 with Brazil close behind with 15. Our Danish conquerors won the competition twice as did host nation Russia.
Here is a table of the results;
Gareth Southgate's men won it four times, which makes England level with Croatia and Portugal.
If you were wondering who will be awarded for the golden boot Golden FM has also assembled the top scorer in each one of the simulations that took place;
Hazard's name in prominent again in the list of the amount of Best Player of the tournament wins, achieving this award a crazy 22 times across the 100 simulations, rounding a clearly very special World Cup in Russia for the Belgians.
