With the launch of Football Manager 2021 around the corner, fans are eager to manage their favourite sides. However, managing some teams pose more of an interesting challenge to many managers. Here is our pick of 3 exciting teams to manage from the Bundesliga.
1. Bayern Munich
2019-2020 League Position: 1
It may seem the most obvious choice on the list but the Bavarian giants remain one of the fan favourites in the game and are our 1st pick from the Bundesliga. They hold a record 30 domestic league titles and have consecutively won the league since 2013. Their domination even extends to Europe, with Bayern very recently securing a continental treble and became the 2nd ever team after Barcelona to achieve the feat twice.
Bayern did undergo a small dip in the form under Kovac but Flick has turned that right around with the continental treble and the Supercup. On form, they are probably the best team in Europe right now and have some sensational talent in their ranks. Some of their players are expected to get a big attribute boost in Football Manager 2021 and many FM Managers would be relishing the possibility of establishing complete dominance in European football for a many many years.
2. Borussia Dortmund
2019-2020 League Position: 2
Borussia Dortmund is a personal favourite for many FM21 managers (after the club they support). Dortmund is a factory of talent and have one of the best scouting networks in world football which extends to the game as well. When you takeover Dortmund you get to manage the best young talent in the game who inevitably go on to become some of the best players in the world. The challenge for managers, however, is keeping other clubs from poaching your players and overthrowing Bayern to become the dominant club in the league. European glory has also evaded Dortmund and for any potential managers, it is an exciting challenge to make Dortmund compete for trophies and make them come out of Bayern’s shadow removing the tag of being the “feeder club” in the process.
3. RB Leipzig

Our pick for the 3rd most exciting team from manage in Football Manager 2021 is the team that finished 3rd in the Bundesliga last season, RB Leipzig. Leipzig is said to be the most hated team in the Bundesliga for breaking the 50+1 rule and their sudden ascent to become one of the dominant clubs in German football. From a Football Manager’s point of view, Leipzig is home to some really exciting young talent and has established itself as one of the top contenders for regular Champion’s League spots. Despite losing key striker Werner in the transfer window, Leipzig have a very good squad and some of their younger players are expected to get good attribute increase in the game. With a solid board backing them and investments from Red Bull, it is possible to reach the very top with Leipzig and is a challenge that many FM2021 Managers should be able to undertake.
