Teams with the biggest transfer budgets outside of the top five leagues in
Football Manager 2021.
While a wheeling-and-dealing career can be fun, sometimes you want to build an empire with money. Spending cash in Football Manager 2021 has never been so challenging. Not because the game makes it hard, but because you have so much data and therefore, options to choose!
If you want to just take over a team that allows you to go nuts with the budget, where a failure at €10m won’t have the board asking questions, we have a few ideas for you to try out. If you fancy the concept of building a team with plenty of cash to throw around, we recommend you try here.
Beijing Guoan
As one of the best supported clubs in China and based in one of the most important cities, it is easy to see how building a team in Beijing could be fun!
Come to the money-rich Super League in China, and you should have plenty of money to throw around. You are expected to achieve a top-three finish in your first season normally, but to do so, you should have as much as €50m plus to throw around, as well as plenty of wages on young stars.
Guangzhou Evergrande
Winning domestic honours in Football Manger 2021 should be easy enough, as would claiming another Asian Champions League. The true challenge, here, then, is bringing in enough national and foreign quality to win the Club World Cup. A challenge, but definitely one to consider with over €50m to spend.
Dinamo Moscow
If you fancy a change in fortunes, you might wish to take on a former Soviet superpower in Dinamo Moscow. The Russian and Ukrainian leagues are a site favourite to manage in, and Dinamo makes an excellent place for you to start out. It also helps that you should have over €25m to throw around and over €150k in wages to dish out.
And believe us, that will only grow if you can manage to get any kind of success. Secure European football for the team of Lev Yashin, and you can be sure that budget won’t be long in adding another zero. Definitely a team you could build something with, though the fans and board will expect fast progress after season one.
Dynamo Kyiv
The former giants of the Eastern bloc were once a true superpower, among the most feared teams in Europe. Since the turn of the millennium, though, they have slowly been overpowered by Shakhtar Donetsk and left behind. Return them to their former glory at home, and see what you can do in Europe; any success will be rewarded handsomely by a board who don’t mind shelling out. You'll have a nice transfer budget of nearly 8M at your disposal at the start of the game.
Shakhtar Donetsk
Speaking of the Donbass giants, why not try and finish off the job in Shakhtar Donetsk?
This is a club that, prior to the domestic conflict, boasted one of the finest training complexes and stadia in the world. While the club now essentially moves around in the in-game database, you will eventually return home. And when you do, you will have amassed a fortune to spend from the chairman.
Donetsk were, before the war, easily the closest team in Eastern Europe to winning the UEFA Champions League. With enough moving and shaking, could you take the Miners all the way? Transfer budget of 8M will help you on your journey.
Hertha Berlin
You will have fine facilities, a massive stadium to try and fill, and an ownership group who will expect something tangible from you in a year or two. In fact, you might even be expected to try and get UEFA Champions League football at the first hurdle!
Red Bull Salzburg
The Austrians have around €20m in the bank to throw around, and a decent amount of wages to use up as well. While building something genuinely massive in Austria would be a challenge, you are playing with a team that has one of the finest scouting departments in the entire Football Manager 2021 database.
Yes, it will be hard to keep stars more than a season or two, but if you get the right blend, you could pull off a miracle in Salzburg. You’ll certainly have the backing of a Red Bull organisation that is so ambitious.
Club Brugge
Do well in Europe and that budget will at least be matched, making it easier for you to put together a power that could take European football seriously and maybe make domestic dominance a thing of the present as opposed to the past.
Monterrey
While you might only have around €10m to spend in the opening season, Monterrey could make an excellent place to build an empire. The Mexican Liga MX is a tremendously competitive place, and every year gives you the chance to go and compete for the Club World Cup.
FC Krasnodar
You are probably the only side with genuine hope of competing against Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Do it right, and you could build a team that has a chance to break the Eastern European glass ceiling in the UEFA Champions League.
