FM22 challenge where you’ll need to match the success of a local rival
club.
But most of these cities have a second or a third club, which haven’t enjoyed the success and have lived in the shadow of their more rich and famous neighbours.
In this Football Manager 2022 challenge, we will explore 4 of these clubs, and we will challenge you to take over and make them match the success of their local rivals.
Everton
Everton have an expensively assembled yet talented squad. Players like Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Lucas Digne will be key fixtures in the first team. However, the players beyond the first XI are weaker. Adding to the problems is that the club’s financial situation is not ideal, so selling players will be necessary. Therefore, maybe it would be best to look to the youth setup, which has provided the likes of Wayne Rooney and Ross Barkley in recent times.
A long list of managers from Moyes to Ancelotti have tried to bring the Blues out of the rut. Are you the one to bring a once-mighty Everton back to their glory days and overtake the neighbours in FM 2022?
Torino
Last season, Torino finished just one place above the relegation zone, and this season could be similar. However, Torino do have some good players with the likes of Swiss fullback Ricardo Rodriguez and powerful Italian striker Andrea Belotti. Former AC Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi once said of Bellotti, “God didn’t bless him with huge talent, but with greater values like generosity, enthusiasm and passion.”
The current squad seems to be quite strong and ready to compete in the 3. Liga. In spite of his age, Sascha Mölders is still a proven goal scorer who will lead the line well. Meanwhile, Dennis Dressel is the heartbeat of the side. The young midfielder looks like he can play at a higher level; whether that’s with 1860 or elsewhere, it is down to you.
Espanyol
Raul de Tomas is the club’s star striker and has been linked to the Premier League. At the same time, former Sevilla and Barcelona man Aleix Vidal provides talent and experience to the lineup. 39-year-old goalkeeper Diego Lopez is still a mainstay between the sticks. Replacing the former Real Madrid man will be a matter of urgency.
