So, who are some of the best young wonderkids who might be taking part in England games in the years to come?

 

Charlie Setford – Gk

If you are looking for a highly interesting young signing, then look to Ajax for young English goalkeeper Charlie Setford. Playing for such a big club means that you need to have a good reputation to sign him, but there could be some great opportunities for Setford in the Premier League.

He is a fine young goalkeeper who, with time, could easily become one of the best young keepers in English football. He has huge potential and a great all-around game, thanks to his development at the much-vaunted Ajax academy.

 

Jarrad Branthwaite – CB

It isn’t often that a big 6ft 5+ defender is considered to be a wonderkid, but Branthwaite certainly is. He should be high up on your list of players to watch as he has the natural ability to play all across the defence. He is surprisingly quick for his size, and he can also play a decent pass with both feet. Definitely, one to keep an eye on – in real life, he recently scored a late equalising goal against Chelsea.

Bundles of talent and looks to have the drive and determination to make it work.

Marc Guehi – CB

Though Guehi has already moved for big money, any of the largest clubs looking for a near sure-fire young kid to build around in defence should look at Guehi. He plays for Crystal Palace but could easily be swayed to move to a UEFA Champions League club as early as the summer of 2022.

Expect to pay through the nose, though, as Guehi has exceptional ability and is only 20 years of age. Capable of plying on the left-hand side of a back two or three, or at left-back, Guehi is a must-sign for any big English club looking to build a strong domestic backline.

 

Ethan Laird – FB

Capable of playing on both left and right full-back slots, Ethan Laird is a very impressive young player. He has great speed and natural energy and could be just what you are looking for when it comes to improving your team. He can use both feet well and should be available for loan.

If you can get him on loan and get promoted to the Premier League, you could easily attract Laird, who is unlikely to break through at Old Trafford anytime soon. A great player and one who has all of the potential you need to play that particular role.

Alfie Devine – CM

If you want a player who could easily play in central or attacking midfield roles, then Alfie Devine is worth keeping an eye on. Devine is a hugely talented player who has excellent movement around the pitch, a good reading of the game, and is generally very well conditioned even from the start of the game.

The challenge with Devine is improving his good but not special technical skills. If you can work with him to find a role where he can focus on using his energy more than his technique, you could be onto a winner.

 

Angel Gomes - CM

Having already been at Manchester United, 20-year-old starlet Angel Gomes is now playing out in France with Lille and is scoring in the UEFA Champions League. However, he is a player who could probably use a lot of time developing, and for any Premier League or Bundesliga club, he would make the ideal hire.

Gomes has failed to break through at Old Trafford, but it is clear he is a highly talented player who could go further in the game than he has so far. For around £6m, could you improve him?

Tino Anjorin – AM

If you keep a close eye on the Chelsea academy, you could land a genuine star soon into the game. Faustino Anjorin is expected to be among the brightest in the Blues academy, but you should be able to sign him when the inevitable game time he needs does not arrive.

A player with a natural burst of pace and physique, he is a surprisingly hard worker and is definitely a player you could look to get more out of than he is getting at Chelsea. Convincing him to sign, even on loan at first, can be tough.

 

Shola Shoretire - FW

One of the most exciting prospects in the English game, Shola Shoretire, is also very hard to sign. The 17-year-old forward plays for Manchester United, so you need to do a lot of convincing to make sure that he would leave Old Trafford.

Even on loan, though, you could find that Shoretire helps to give you the extra emphasis in attack that you need. His natural technical skills and finishing make him an excellent choice to play off the left-hand side of attack. More than capable of becoming a long-term future England international if given time.

Noni Madueke - FW

At just 19, PSV Eindhoven’s young English star is one that any team should be keen to know more about. Madueke is more than capable of playing on the right or the left and has exceptional speed and close control from day one.

Definitely, one to keep an eye on, and a player who has some great starting stats on things like work rate and composure – usually, these are the hard things to improve. Madueke has the exposure to first-team football, so he will expect to play, but bigger clubs than PSV should consider him a priority.
