The Football Manager 2022 Winter Update is now upon us, and we have some pretty awesome changes in the database. To help you build a new team in a new save on the updated database, we have put together a list of what we consider to be the best Goalkeepers in this new edition of the FM22 database. So, what are the best Goalkeepers that you could sign ahead of the 2021-22 season?

Who should you be on the lookout for if you want to transform your team and fulfil the dreams of your supporters?

 

Dominik Livakovic – Dinamo Zagreb

If you are looking for a keeper who is both a good age and is more than capable of playing just now, look into Dominik Livakovic. The Croatian international is the heir to the international throne, and has the ability to become a borderline world-class goalkeeper. He has excellent potential, great handling, and is a great reactions keeper.

A good choice for any team who is looking for a younger keeper to build around, as well. He should be affordable for just about any club in the Premier League or of a top-five league. Dinamo do like to haggle, though, so you could be paying a pretty penny for this Croat. As the national number one and an excellent all-rounder, though, you would be doing yourself a disservice if you ignored the chance. Sign him up before some else nips in ahead of your team!

 

Predrag Rajkovic – Reims

A bit of an FM stalwart, Predrag Rajkovic is still at Ligue 1 mid-table outfit Reims. You should have no problem grabbing him as the highly routed keeper should be ready to move on from the club. Most saves that we have run have seen him leave within the first two windows for sure. He is attainable for just about any club in European competition, though those in smaller leagues like Scotland and Greece might have some real convincing to do.

A fine shot-stopper with tremendous reflexes and a decent enough command of his box, Rajkovic is a keeper worth keeping a close eye on. He has excellent all-around ability and has no shortage of potential, so you could easily see him grow into an even better keeper in the years to come. Definitely a keeper for any mid-to-European tier team in the top five leagues.

 

OIiver Dovin – Hammarby

If you would rather sign a young keeper who you can build into the first team over time, then look to Hammarby. The Swedish giants have enjoyed excellent growth as a club in recent years, and that is reflected in the abundance of young players coming through. At 19, London-born Dovin would be a tremendous choice for just about any club to invest in.

He is a cat-like keeper with excellent reflexes, and he is very large. At only 19, too, he can only improve further and show you an even higher level of performance in years to come. Given he plays in Sweden he should be attainable for most clubs, and he would be suitable as a backup for just about any club outside of the elite. Definitely one to look into if you are outside of the top five leagues and want an exciting young goalkeeping talent.

 

Yann Sommer – Borussia Monchengladbach

If your aim is to grab a keeper who has immense experience, then Switzerland no. 1 keeper Yann Sommer should be high-up on the list. He is a veteran by this stage, but he is among the top three keepers in Germany and would easily be a fine hire for any club. Even if you are a Champions League contending team, you could find that Sommer gives you that vital experience and knowhow behind the defence for a good few years to come. You might be lucky to still have him at his peak after two or three seasons, but he is someone who could easily improve any side.

Definitely one to add to your list, and has arguably gotten easier to sign due to the Gladbach situation. They are in mild flux at the start of any new season, so he should be attainable.

 

Caoimhin Kelleher – Liverpool

Though he might be hard to get away from the Reds, the League Cup hero could be a fine addition for any club looking for a new goalkeeper to build around. Young enough to keep on developing, Kelleher has everything that one would want in a new goalkeeper. If you can convince Liverpool with a big enough bid – he might be loanable in the first season or two – you could get a top class operator who is far better than his age and profile suggests.

An excellent shot stopper with tremendous reflexes and good passing range, he would be a good choice as a sweeper keeper. You might find it hard to do a deal at first, but there is no reason why you should give up. Kelleher will cost you more than his probable current ability would be worth, but he is a long-term investment who is worth trying out.

 

Weverton – Palmeiras

Given the state of the Brazilian game in terms of finance, landing Weverton as your go-to experienced option is a good idea. He is a fine keeper with tremendous leadership abilities and would be a good choice for just about any non-contending club in Europe. His experience and the fact he has Brazilian national team caps means you are buying a well-regarded veteran will plenty to offer for any team that he plays for.

Definitely, someone who would be recommended if you want someone on a good price. His age and the fact he plays in Brazil means that he could be a more affordable option than some of the names being mentioned here. Definitely someone to keep an eye on, though, if you want a veteran who you know that you can trust to come in and do a good job for your team.
