About Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund are a professional football club that ply their trade in the Bundesliga. The club was founded in 1909 by football players based out of Dortmund. They are the 2nd largest sports club in Germany and are supported globally. Dortmund are the 2nd most successful team in Germany with 8 German Championships, 5 DFB Pokals, 6 DFL Supercups, 1 UEFA Champion’s League and 1 UEFA Cup winner’s cup. They have been runners up in the above-mentioned tournaments many times as well. Their fan base is said to be one of the best in the world with the 81,000 Signal Iduna Park stadium almost filling up every time Dortmund play a home game.
Dortmund had a mixed 2020-2021 season and finished 3rd in the Bundesliga. The board requirements once you take over will be;
· Make the top 4 of the Bundesliga (Automatic Qualification into the UCL)
· Reach the semi-final of the DFB Pokal.
· Make the knockout stages of the UEFA Champion’s League.
You will be tasked with playing an attacking, entertaining brand of football, signing young players to use for the future, developing players using the club's youth system, sign players from domestic rivals especially players based out of Germany.
Dortmund have excellent training facilities and one of the best youth systems in game. You will learn to heavily depend on these to meet the club expectations and to compete for titles.

Squad, Formation and Tactical Style
Dortmund are a very attack-minded team and the board requirement is that you play attacking football. A Vertical Tiki Taka style should best suit the squad of players and should cater to the board’s needs. You can use a fluid counter attacking style in tough away games.
A 4-2-3-1 is probably the best suited formation to the available squad of players. This also helps them maintain the width and pull defenders wide and use the superior dribbling skills of your wingers to create chances.
A rough example of what your line-up would look like in a 4-2-3-1 formation is as follows;
Gregor Kobel as a sweeper keeper.
Mats Hummels & Manuel Akanji as your 2 Ball Playing central defenders.
Felix Passalack & Rafael Guerreiro as the 2 wingbacks. They’re attack minded in general and should be given instructions to push forward as much as possible.
Jude Bellingham & Axel Witsel as the 2 central midfielders. The former is to be played as a box to box midfielder and the latter as a deep playmaker with defend duty.
Marco Reus & Thorgan Hazard as the 2 wingers with Reus playing as an inside forward and Hazard as an inverted winger.
Giovanni Reyna as an attacking midfielder in the No 10 role.
Erling Haaland as a lone forward as a pressing or advanced forward.

Key Players
Marco Reus
Reus is one of the best attackers in German football. Should keep him from getting injured, Reus will contribute with a lot of goals, especially in important games. He is also extremely versatile and can play in multiple positions in various roles.
Erling Haaland
Technically still a wonderkid in football manager terms, Haaland is already amongst the best strikers in the world. He can easily be developed into a goal machine and will be a powerhouse up front.
Axel Witsel
The veteran Belgian provides a calming presence in midfield and his experience can be crucial in securing results with this largely inexperienced Dortmund squad.
Mats Hummels
In a club renowned for its younger players, Hummels provides much needed experience and is a calm presence at the back. His organizational skills are vital for Dortmund having a successful season.
Youth Prospects
Jude Bellingham
The 18-year-old is already an established presence in Dortmund and is also a regular with the England national team. With time, he could develop into one of the best and most versatile midfielders in the game.
Giovanni Reyna
Following in the footsteps of Pulisic, fellow Americal Giovanni Reyna is also considered amongst the top talents from the United States. In a few years, Reyna could be a top player in central or attacking midfield for most clubs.
Youssoufa Moukoko
Quite possibly one of the best wonderkids in all of football manager games, Moukoko is a very popular name in the FM circle. Given a few years and some game experience, he can take the footballing world by storm and could be amongst the best players in the game.
Weaknesses
· You run the risk of some talents being poached by other clubs, especially in search of higher wages.
· This is a very young squad and the inexperience will show in big matches.
Potential Transfers (in)
Dortmund are not the best squad in the league with respect to squad depth, these players could be welcome additions to the side.
· Dusan Vlahovic
· Tomas Esteves
· Sven Botman
Potential Transfers (Out)
These players may be surplus to requirements at the club or may not be of the expected quality.
· Emre Can
· Mahmoud Dahoud
