requirements, tactics, key players, youth prospects and potential transfers
in FM22.
Here is a brief analysis of the Everton squad, their club structure, the relationship any potential managers will have with the board, expectations and possible tactics any FM 22 manager can use.
About Everton
Everton are an average mid-table team, they are fairly consistent and finish in the top half of the PL table most of the time. Even in history, Everton hold the record for the most consecutive top flight appearances (118). However, Everton are trophyless since 1995 and are always in the shadow of their more popular Merseyside rivals Liverpool. Can you as a manager take a consistent mid table side like Everton to greater heights?
Although investments in recent seasons have been quite heavy, Everton have always punched below their weight. The board requirements once you take over will be;
· Making the 5th round of the FA Cup.
· Make the 4th round of the EFL Carabao Cup.
Additionally, you will be required to play possession-based attacking football, which should be entertaining to the board and supporters. You will also be required to sign young players for the future and develop players using the club’s youth system. Everton have also been investing heavily in bringing better players to the club and are a club in debt.
Everton, however, do have decent training facilities and a good youth set up, which will churn out the occasional gem. These are some of the areas that you need to develop right away once you take over as manager.
Squad, Formation and Tactical Style
There are quite a few tactical setups you could deploy with Everton; however, a vertical tiki-taka of football for most home games and a fluid counter-attacking style for away games should be your go-to.
A 4-2-2-2 or a 4-4-2 is typically the most ideal formation for Everton and you can use this formation for both home and away games just altering the player mentality depending on the opponents.
A rough example of what your line-up would look like in a 4-2-2-2 formation is as follows;
Jordan Pickford as a sweeper-keeper.
Seamus Coleman & Lucas Digne as a fullback and wing-back, respectively. Digne is especially good at crossing and from set plays, so increasing his crossing instructions should be ideal.
Mason Holgate & Yerry Mina as ball playing centre backs.
Allan & Abdoulaye Doucoure as the 2 central mids, with the former as a deep playmaker on defence duty and the latter as a box to box midfielder.
Demarai Gray & Andros Townsend as the 2 wide players, with both operating as inverted wingers.
Richarlison & Dominic Calvert Lewin as the 2 men upfront, with DCL playing as a deep forward and Richarlison as an Advanced Forward.
You could go with a more traditional 4-2-3-1 and play Richarlison on the left or a 4-3-3.
The England international is amongst the top keepers in the league and will be instrumental in shaping the season for Everton.
Although he may soon leave Everton in real life, Digne remains as one of the best crossing full backs in the league and can provide a ton of goal chances to both the forwards with his delivery.
The young England international has improved massively in recent years and is a major goal threat. He is also good aerially and can set up goals for his teammates with his hold up play.
Richarlison
The Brazilian international is versatile and has an eye for goal. His versatility will make it easy to fit him into most tactics, and he will be an important source of goals for the club.
Anthony Gordon
The young English winger has already been given first-team opportunities and is said to be an exciting potential at the club.
Jarrad Branthwaite
The defender has already been involved several times for the club in real life and has even scored a crucial goal. He could become a very important player for the club in the future.
