Football Manager 2022 West Ham tactic and team guide. Club culture and
board requirements, tactics, key players, youth prospects and potential
transfers in FM22.
Here is a brief analysis of the West Ham squad, their club structure, the relationship any potential managers will have with the board, expectations and possible tactics any FM22 manager can use.
About West Ham
West Ham, or the Hammers, as they are belovedly called, are a mid-table Premier League club based out of London. The Hammers are one of the few teams that have never gone below the 2nd tier of English football since the club started functioning. In the PL Era, West Ham have never won silverware and are overshadowed by their more popular London neighbours.
West Ham have been punching above their weight under Moyes and are pushing for a top 6 spot in real life. The board requirement once you take over will be;
· A top-half league finish.
· Making the 5th round of the FA Cup
· Making the 4th round of the Carabao EFL Cup
· Reach the first knockout round of the Euro cup
· work towards becoming self-sustainable
Additionally, you will be required to play attacking football, sign high reputation players, develop young players from the club's youth system and sign younger players for the future.
Hammers have decent training facilities and a stable youth setup which could churn out the occasional gem. You should go about trying to improve these as soon as you can once you take over.
Squad, Formation and Tactical Style
The hammers have made quite a few smart purchases recently and have a strong squad.
There are quite a few tactical setups you could deploy with West Ham; however, for their current squad of players, the strongest would be the vertical tiki-taka and a counter-attacking tactic for difficult away games.
A 4-2-3-1 is the best formation for West Ham, and you can alternate the player mindsets depending on the difficulty of the game. A 4-1-4-1 is also not a bad way to set up.
A rough example of what your line-up would look like in a 4-2-3-1 formation is as follows;
Alphonse Areola as a sweeper keeper.
Vladimir Coufal & Aaron Creswell as a full back and wing-back, respectively. Both are generally attacking fullbacks, with Creswell having a high crossing ability.
Kurt Zouma & Angelo Ogbonna playing as the 2 centre backs, with Ogbonna playing as a Ball Playing Defender.
Declan Rice & Tomas Soucek as the 2 central midfielders, with Rice playing as a ball-winning midfielder and Soucek as a box to box midfielder.
Said Benrahma as an inside forward on the left & Jarrod Bowen as an inverted winger on the right.
Pablo Fornals playing as the central attacking midfielder.
Michail Antonio as a Pressing Forward
There are a couple of capable options from the bench. Be sure to concentrate on set plays with West Ham, as there are several players who have the ability to score goals from corners or free kicks.
Zouma is a new signing and represents quality in defence. He is a no-nonsense defender who has the ability to score crucial goals from set-piece situations.
Tomas Soucek
Soucek is a very underrated box to box midfielder who has the tendency to score a lot of goals, especially from set-piece situations.
Declan Rice
At just 22, Rice is already West Ham’s captain. His versatility, calmness and ability to be composed under pressure make him one of the best players in his position. He is already an International with England and will only improve in the future.
Michail Antonio
Antonio is a talismanic presence up front for the hammers and is key for their tactic. Keeping him fit throughout the season might be vital to achieving success with West Ham.

Youth Prospects
Ben Johnson
The young full-back has already been involved with the first-team squad and could be a big player for the club in the future.
Currently playing for the U23s, Alves Ibsen is highly regarded by the coaches at West Ham and could be a leader in defence for the hammers in later years.
Weaknesses
· West Ham have no able backups for Antonio, and an injury to him could spell disaster.
· The overall squad depth is average, especially the quality beyond the first team.
· You run the risk of your talents being poached by richer clubs.
