This list will give you some relegation candidates to manage across Europe who could be great saves on FM23.
Nottingham Forest
After 23 years, Nottingham Forest are finally back in the Premier League, and they look like they are taking this opportunity with two hands. Unbelievably, Forest have signed 21 new players spending almost £150m, which is the most ever by a promoted side. Getting new signings like Renan Lodi, Morgan Gibbs White, Neco Williams, Dean Henderson et al to gel will be essential in Forest’s efforts. The levels of optimism at The City Ground are sky high at the moment as decades of stagnation have come to an end. Will you be able to keep that momentum up?
Vfb Stuttgart
Last season, Stuttgart stayed in the Bundesliga on goal difference. 2022 was a far cry from the 2007 season when they last won the league. To make things harder for The Reds, they had to sell their star striker, Saša Kalajdžić, to Wolves to make ends meet. Stuttgart have become the type of club that signs cheap young players to sell for high prices. Therefore the spine of the club is young and quite talented, with the likes of Silas (23), Borna Sosa (24) and Kostantinos Mavropanos (24). The potential at Stuttgart is there; the first season may be difficult, but the opportunity to develop is significant. In terms of infrastructure, Stuttgart have a set up which is ideal for the club’s future.

AC Ajaccio
Based on the gorgeous island of Corsica, recently promoted AC Ajaccio are expected to struggle in Ligue 1 this year. Ajaccio have an extremely tight budget and only spent £600,000 on 9 new players this summer. During their promotion season, Ajaccio's success was built upon an extremely strong defence. In 38 matches, they only conceded 19 goals; however, Ajaccio only managed to score 39 goals. Building on this strong defence and, probably, more importantly, adding goals will be the key to keeping the Corsicans in Ligue 1.
Dundee United
Dundee United started this season with a 9-0 defeat against Celtic and a 7-0 defeat against AZ Alkmaar in the European Conference League qualifying. These two results, amongst others, quickly shattered the confidence from the previous season when United finished fourth, their highest league position in 8 years. The awful start to the season led to Jack Ross being sacked after just two months in charge. Dundee United is a club in crisis and have lost some key players like goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist to youngster Lewis Neilson to Hearts. Fortunately, United picked up young Manchester United midfielder Dylan Levitt and have experience in former Scotland internationals Steven Fletcher and Charlie Mulgrew. Hopefully, the start was just a blip, and you can get Dundee United up to the higher reaches of the Scottish Premiership.
