Think FM is too easy? These brutal challenges will push your skills to the absolute limit.
Do you think you’re good at Football Manager? I’m sure you do. You wouldn’t be on this page otherwise. Well, these challenges will test even the most experienced and talented Football Manager players.
⚠️ Note: For some of these challenges you may need to download extra leagues from FM Blog or the Steam Workshop.
1. Conquer the French Cup with an Overseas Team
Last season, Golden Lion from Martinique flew over 8,000 miles to face Lille… only to get destroyed 12-0. Ouch.
Your challenge? Take one of these tiny overseas clubs and win the Coupe de France. It sounds impossible—and that’s because it nearly is. You’ll be up against professional sides with far bigger budgets, better facilities, and, let’s be honest, players who actually train more than twice a week.
But if you pull this off? You’ll go down as a Football Manager legend.
2. The Pentagon Challenge (Extreme Edition)
Well, now there is an even more extreme version to sink your teeth into. Your objective is to win the Champions League in countries that have not had previous continental champions. For example, in Europe, you might manage a team in Denmark or Croatia. Or, in North America, you could take over a Canadian team (or a Canadian MLS side).
This challenge will take extreme patience and dedication as you will have to build up your team to be able to challenge the big boys in the continent. But, being able to achieve those lofty heights will be an amazing achievement.
3. Vaduz – The Champions League Dream That Shouldn’t Exist
The ultimate goal of the challenge is to win the Champions League. To do this, you must first win the Europa Conference League, followed by the Europa League, to qualify for the Champions League. However, if you fail to win the Champions League in the first attempt, the cycle will restart. This really is an extreme challenge!
4. The San Marino Challenge – From Laughing Stock to World Champions
You’re taking San Marino, a microstate with a population of just 30,000 people, and turning them into World Cup winners. Yes, you read that right.
But it gets harder. You won’t just manage the San Marino national team—you’ll also take over Victor San Marino, a club playing in Italy’s Serie D. Your job is to develop youth talent, build them into international-level players, and slowly turn San Marino into a footballing powerhouse.
This isn’t just a challenge—it’s a multi-decade project. You’ll be battling terrible facilities, a non-existent player pool, and a history of failure. If you somehow manage to lift the World Cup with San Marino, you can officially say you’ve beaten Football Manager.

- 💡 Pro Tip:
- Focus on developing youth intakes—it’s the only way to improve the national team long-term.
Why Bother? Because Glory Isn’t Supposed to Be Easy
FM’s magic isn’t in the wins—it’s in the nearlys. The 119th-minute equalisers. The regen who retires at 24 to become a fisherman. These challenges force you to adapt. To laugh at the chaos. To finally understand why your partner says you “mutter in your sleep about xG.”
So, ready to quit your job, ignore your family, and spend 400 hours on a San Marino save? Good. Because if you pull even one of these off? You’ll be a legend.
