Three insane Football Manager challenges that will test your skills and creativity!
Let’s be honest—sometimes Football Manager becomes too easy. You master your tactics, sign a few wonderkids, and suddenly, you’re dominating the league without breaking a sweat. Boring, right?
Well, that’s why we need challenges—something to push you out of your comfort zone and make you question your life choices at 3 AM while staring at the FM tactics screen.
I’ve got three brutal FM24 challenges for you shared with me from a member of our FM Blog Facebook group. If you’re up for the ultimate test of patience, strategy, and sheer stubbornness, keep reading.
1. National Team Club Challenge – Become Your Nation’s Powerhouse
What’s the Challenge?
Forget international management. Your goal is to bring every key national team player to your club—but without actually being the national coach. Bayern Munich did this for years with Germany, so why can’t you?
The Rules:
- You must sign all national team starters (and key backups) for your club.
- No managing a "Top 5" club to start. You need to build your own Bayern-like dynasty.
- You CANNOT be the national team coach—this must happen organically.
How to Approach It?
This challenge is a long-term project. It won’t happen in one transfer window (unless you’re sitting on a Man City-sized budget, which you’re not).
- Scouting and patience: Some of your nation’s top players might not be available immediately. Monitor contracts and wait for the right moment.
- Youth intake: If you can’t sign them, develop them. Focus on academy recruitment in your home nation.
- Financial Strategy: National team players don’t come cheap. You’ll need to sell smart, negotiate contracts well, and make profit-driven signings to fund your dream team.
Best Clubs to Try This Challenge With:
- Portugal: Benfica – Can you bring back every Portuguese star?
- Netherlands: Feyenoord – Ajax might be too easy.
- Argentina: River Plate – Dominate South America before luring Messi’s regen back home.
Think you can do it? Let’s see if you can recreate a Bayern Munich-esque national club takeover.
2. Australia Challenge – From Down Under to World Champions
What’s the Challenge?
Take Australia to the World Cup. Oh, but you can’t manage Australia. And you can’t manage an Australian club either.
Wait… what?
Yeah, you read that correctly. You’re banned from Australia (don’t ask why, something about a koala and an incident best left forgotten). You love Australia, but they hate you. Your only option? To make them world champions from the shadows.
The Rules:
- No managing Australia—you have to influence the squad without being their boss.
- No Australian club management—you must help Aussie players from abroad.
- You must develop and sign Australian talent at your club and ensure they get into the national team.
- Australia must win the World Cup within 20 years.
How to Approach It?
- Target young Aussies early – Find Australian wonderkids before they become overpriced.
- Boost their development – Make sure they get game time, elite training, and international exposure.
- Loan them back to Europe – The A-League isn’t strong enough. Keep your Aussie talents in competitive leagues.
Best Clubs to Try This Challenge With:
- Celtic (Scotland) – They have a history with Aussie players (Rogic, Mooy, Postecoglou).
- Leeds United (England) – Aussie heritage from the Viduka-Kewell era.
- FC Utrecht (Netherlands) – A good stepping-stone club to develop future Socceroos.
This is a long-haul challenge, but if you manage to influence Australia into winning the World Cup without ever managing them, you officially deserve the title of Football Manager Genius.
3. Arabia Revenge Challenge – Take Back Your Best Players
What’s the Challenge?
We’ve all seen it happen—some random Saudi club steals your best player with an insane wage offer, and suddenly, your entire season is ruined.
Well, it’s time for payback. You’re flipping the script. This time, you’re going to raid the Arabian leagues and build your own super team.
The Rules:
- You must manage a club in a Top 5 European League (England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France).
- Your starting XI must consist entirely of players from the Arabian Peninsula (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Yemen).
- You must win your domestic league with this squad.
How to Approach It?
- Scouting Arabian Leagues – Their best talents often go unnoticed. Find the gems.
- Youth poaching – Bring young Arabian players into your academy.
- Tactical Adjustments – You might need a counter-attacking approach early on while your squad develops.
Best Clubs to Try This Challenge With:
- Sevilla (Spain) – A great team to test this experiment in La Liga.
- Lazio (Italy) – They love an unconventional challenge.
- Brighton (England) – Perfect for scouting talents and unearthing future Arabian stars.
If you win the league like this, not only have you conquered European football, but you’ve also just dealt a massive blow to the very clubs that have been poaching your players. Take that, big oil money.
Which Challenge Will You Take On?
These challenges will push your Football Manager skills to the limit—but that’s the fun part. No one remembers the easy saves. The best stories come from the toughest challenges.
So, what will it be?
- Building a national team super club from scratch?
- Turning Australia into world champions without ever stepping foot in the country?
- Assembling an Arabian super team to dominate Europe?
Pick your challenge, start your save, and let me know how it goes! You’ll need all the luck you can get. 😏
