His development ratings resemble ones of Samir Nasri, so that’s the sole reason why did we compare Serge to him.
Normally no one would think that Serge could and would develop to a class midfielder looking at his starting attributes. Only his Physical attributes look somewhat good, yet his technical and mental ones don’t suggest this young players true potential. BTW, if it is of any interest of yours, Serge has Potential Ability set at -9, so a potential top class player if trained correctly.
Once developed, and at the age of 27, we can see that Serge can become top class midfielder. But it has to be noted that his development would be even better if he played for the first 5 seasons in the Arsenal’s first team. Even with this handicap on his side he still managed to develop greatly.
His Physical attributes developed even more, and are among on of the best we’ve encountered in FM 2014. His Technical attributes also developed quite nicely, particularly ones needed for his position of Advanced Midfielder, but the thing that concerns us the most are his poor Mental attributes. Once again, if he played regularly for the first 5 seasons and trained correctly, he would develop much better than this.
There’s no estimated cost for Serge, as he is unwilling to make a transfer from the Gunners in the first season. But if you wait for the first season to get over, you could get him for a bargain price of £2M or even less.
We’re off the opinion that you should give Serge Gnabry a shot at your team. He sure does have the quality and potential to become great midfielder for the future, just be sure to give him enough time and space in your first team, and train him properly.
