A quick list of headline Football Manager 2021 features that will interest
you if you're the type of social manager and like to have a hands-on
approach while managing your players.
As a manager, you might be someone who looks to treat your virtual players like real-life people. Many managers look to spend hours of their time in conversation with their players.
New team talks
One of the main changes is the new number of team talk options in Football Manager 2021. If you have a player who is making a landmark appearance, then you can find that you can speak to them specifically in a far more emotional manner than before.
These are the moments that we remember long after we move on to a new save – players who served us with distinction for years. Now, you can make sure that those moments are etched into your mind with far more emotional conversations than you might have enjoyed if you last played FM2020 instead.
Handling discipline
At the moment, a gamer frustration is players turning up at your office to moan about being dropped. When you only dropped them to help avoid suspension for a big game, though, it can become annoying…yet no option has existed to explain this to the players, until now.
Football Manager 2021 adds in an option that allows you to explain that you are protecting a player from potential suspension. They might not always agree with you, but at least now you can give a reason that should stop morale and confidence plummeting in a star player right before a big match-up.
Social media rumours
Players and coaches say they don’t bother with social media, but we all know that is a partial fib at best. Now, you will have even more rumours to look over and think about with this year's edition of FM. Rumours will be given to you not only by the press but by fans, via your Inbox.
This will give you more inspiration, more ideas, and more fears about a big club coming in and making away with your best young playmaker. This should help socially-minded managers understand the wider landscape outside their own club, too.
Training comparisons
A nice touch this year is the addition of weekly training comparisons. Now, you don’t need to arbitrarily moan at a player for a good/bad training week. You can see if this is part of a short-term regression due to any reason, or if it is simply down to a player who has lost some of that early season bite and verve.
This makes it much easier to see how training is going so that you can then work out if praise or criticism is going to be justified.
Which of these new Football Manager 2021 features do you think you will be using the most to try and become a more approachable coach?
