Here are five FM22 challenges to start as your next save and actually have
fun.
The best Football Manager 2022 challenges to take on
1. The Bosman challenge
Why is this fun? Because it will force you to get creative. Instead of just loading up Football Manager 2022 and signing the first names that you see available to buy with your budget, you need to be smart. Signings are looked at months in advance, even years, waiting for their deal to run out so you can nip in and get them on a freebie.
This is a fun challenge and one that is sure to make you really think about what you are doing. Every move counts, forcing you to always think ahead of time as opposed to making decisions on a whim.
2. The domestic challenge
This is a good challenge as it forces you to be smarter with signings, and you really need to look at each signing with your analytical head on. Signings have to be looked at very carefully, with a distinct focus on what they do and how they fit into the team.
It also forces you to stop signing players who you like in real-life, or players who you seen on TV that night. Your signings come from meticulous scouting and no shortage of effort, as opposed to a player who you want to see in real life.
3. The Class of 2021 challenge
This is a demanding challenge as you will be wildly inconsistent due to the low age of your team. The only signings you are allowed to make over the age of 18/19 is players who came through your academy. So, you could bring an old veteran to fill in for a player. Or you could have an older player return to fill in the parts of your team that are lacking. It has, to, though, be an academy-taught player.

4. The Director of Football challenge
Many of us excel at squad building in FM, but leaving it up to the AI to supply you with players can be a huge challenge. You are reliant on the AI making smart calls and bringing in players in your budget. You simply work with what you have, forcing your time that would normally be spent scouting into coaching.
For this challenge, you are not even allowed to add a transfer target to the list. In this scenario, you are the coach and the coach only – can you make it work?
5. The eyes wide shut challenge
Are you based in Europe? Then make sure you land in Africa or Asia. The culture shock is massive, as is how you build squads, scout players etc.
Most players of Football Manager 2022 will be picking leagues they know a lot about. We recommend you try out something a bit more challenging, though, by going for a team and a league that is totally out of your comfort zone. Your signings stop being based on fantasy and instead come down to meticulous decision making and no shortage of planning. So, why not try it out for yourself and see if having a league and team that is totally new to you is something you can handle.
Where will you conquer first?
Part of what makes Football Manager 2022 so fun is that you can take more or less any club and, with time, build it into something special. As we all know, though, it can be very hard to build a club that is good enough to genuinely conquer everything. Some of us, though, have goals other than winning continental titles – some of us want to have achievements on our CV that go beyond the basics.
So, with the above challenges, you can see how good you really are!
