What is Nottingham Forest’s history?

Much like rivals Derby County, Nottingham Forest were a bit of a non-entity until Brian Clough took over. In their history, though, they have a league title, a pair of FA Cup wins, a quadruple of League Cups, and two European Cup trophies. They also won the UEFA Super Cup. Much of this success came in the late 1970s and early 1980s, built under Clough and Peter Taylor.

However, the 1990s until now has been an era of pure frustration for every Forest fan. If you want to try and build a club that nobody seems to have been able to get right, then you should absolutely take a look at managing Nottingham Forest.

What is Nottingham Forest’s objectives and finances?

In terms of objectives, you will be expected to get promoted within two seasons. Your first season, though, should see a promotion push if nothing else. You will be expected to play winning football as opposed to attacking football, and you will also need to deal with the demand to get academy boys in the first XI.

Your finances are not great, like many teams who have chased promotion and failed. For that reason, then, you will need to be smart and use the loan window as well as free contracts to build a team on the cheap. Compared to other promotion-chasing teams, Nottingham Forest have one of the smaller budgets in FM22. However, fan expectation and a bulging history means you need to be as active as you can be to get results from day one.

Who are the best players at Nottingham Forest?

You have some good players at Forest, though, which can help to manage your rebuild. In goal, you have Brice Samba, a solid Championship-level keeper who could get a little better. In defence, you have Scott McKenna and Tobias Figueiredo, two players who have high potential but have lost their way somewhat in the last few years.

Up front, you can rely upon the experience of Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor, two forwards with bags of experience and a rich history of scoring goals in the Championship. You have some good players, but you also have some experience in the form of Gaetan Bong. 

High potential exists in the likes of Joe Worrall and Brennan Johson, so you should have enough talent in and around the first XI to get started. You should also look to get Alex Mighten some game time, while defender Loic Mbe Soh is definitely someone to keep an eye on as well. There is a talented if imbalanced squad here; your job is to get them playing together with consistency.
